Why the Injury to Derrick Rose Will Make the Bulls Better
Robert Vargas
The loss of Derrick Rose to a torn ACL felt like the loss of a relative. The pain was exacerbated by both 1) Rip Hamilton’s “back from the dead” performance in game 1 which made one think the Bulls might have had that elusive second offensive option, and 2) the fact that, just hours later, Lebron and the Heat completely annihilated the Knicks 100-67 in what was one of the most embarrassing defeats in Knick history.
After much soul searching, my fixation on “what could have been” with the 2012 Bulls has given way to a rationalization that some may fine less intuitive. Rose’s injury will make the Bulls a better team. Here’s why:
Zack’s Picks in the West
For me, trying to predict what’s going to happen in the Western Conference this playoff season is like trying to pick a winner on Survivor: all I can think about are all the reasons why each team can’t win. As far as I can tell, there are five teams with a legitimate shot in the West:

Why There’s Good Reason to Think the Celtics Can Win the East
It’s almost like a god given belief the Bulls and Heat will compete for the Eastern conference title this year. The Celtics, Pacers, and Knicks are kind of like these dark horse picks that people will always say if a few very specific things happen — like an injury to the Bulls or Heat — then MAYBE, just maybe, they can compete for the title.
I know what you are going to say: they don’t have a chance, their window closed almost two years ago, and how in the hell can they guard Lebron?
Shenanigans Ep15: The Super Bowl and Why Melo might be the most unique NBA player in history.
Hey Hey Everybody! This is Episode 15 of the Shenanigans podcast hosted by Pass the Relish blog…
This week the gang discusses why the Super Bowl sucked so much, QB legacies (Peyton vs Eli and Tom Brady) and why we care so much about quarter backs at all.
Also, the NBA. How do we feel about the All-Star voting… Zack and Mando have a bit of a disagreement over Kevin Love vs. Lamarcus Aldridge… and, the most important topic of all, does Carmelo Anthony the most unique player of all time? We mean that in a bad way, lol.
— till next time guys!

The development of Deandre Jordan
There are so many ways in which this 2012 Clippers team is different than any other Clippers team before. One of the major differences is that serious talks about the Clippers being championship contenders have emerged. In the past week, the Clippers have accomplished feats just short of miracles: beating the Nuggets in Denver (first since 2006), blowing out the league-leading Thunder on the second of back-to-back games, and winning in Salt Lake City after a million years.

Tanking and the broken NBA draft system
TANKING - One of the most disrespectful things that teams in the NBA and other American sports leagues do to their loyal fans. This is beyond disrespectful and directly insulting to the most loyal fans, the season ticket holders. As a Clipper fan, I know this feeling too well. However, it is difficult to stay upset at a team as one understands that the goal of losing games on purpose is to increase one’s chances to obtain the coveted #1 draft pick of the new incoming class of NBA players the next year around. In other words, teams don’t want to disrespect their fans; they are simply positioning themselves as best as they can according to the rules in place.
One fan’s reaction to the Clippers’ victory over Miami
Three years ago I attended my first ever Clipper game: a 40 point loss to a Lakers team that had won the Western Conference the year before. Even though it was supposedly a Clipper home game, I remember Laker jerseys outnumbering Clipper jerseys by at least 3 to 1 and by far the most prevalent chant throughout the course of the game being “Clippers suck.” Which they did.

Three years later, my first Clipper game of the season was also against a conference champion from the season before (as well as the favorite for best team in the NBA) the Miami Heat. But, this time around, things felt a whole lot different.
